ABOUT
A veteran stage and screen actor, Michael Tucker is perhaps best known for his role as Stuart Markowitz in the hit series L.A. LAW. His 8-year stint on the popular NBC-TV drama brought him three Emmy nominations and two Golden Globe nominations. His long and varied acting career spans from Broadway to film and TV with highlights including Woody Allen’s RADIO DAYS and THE PURPLE ROSE OF CAIRO, Barry Levinson’s DINER and TIN MEN, Paul Mazursky’s AN UNMARRIED WOMAN, and Lina Wertmuller’s A NIGHT FULL OF RAIN.
He and wife Jill Eikenberry (commonly known as “The Tuckerberrys”) have also appeared together on stage in A.R. Gurney’s LOVE LETTERS, ENTER LAUGHING - THE MUSICAL and BRACE YOURSELF by David Epstein. In addition to their collaboration on L.A. LAW, they worked together on TV's HILL STREET BLUES and several TV movies including ARCHIE'S WIFE, which also featured their daughter Alison. Jill and Michael produced a documentary film, EMILE NORMAN – BY HIS OWN DESIGN, which aired on PBS. It has become a perennial during Gay Pride every June on PBS stations across the nation. Michael received the “Good Guys Award” from the National Women’s Political Caucus for his work on women’s health issues.
Michael’s first book, I NEVER FORGET A MEAL is part memoir, part cookbook. LIVING IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE is now available in paperback from Grove/Atlantic. FAMILY MEALS – also published by Grove/Atlantic -- is now available online and his debut novel, AFTER ANNIE was published in 2012 by The Overlook Press. His first play, THE “M” SPOT, debuted at New Jersey Repertory, as did his second play, FERN HILL, which went on to have a production Off Broadway at 59E59 Theaters in New York. His third play, A TAILOR NEAR ME, had a sold-out run at New Jersey Rep and his play, THE NICE MAN COMETH, in which he co- starred with Jill Eikenberry, was recorded in the Tuckers’ barn and donated as a fund-raiser for non-profit theaters during Covid. His other plays, CANCELLED, MANDY, and KILLERMAN, are waiting to be produced.
